What makes a session with me special…..
Joyful and Genuine Interactions
Do you remember the way your child laughs? The way she giggles when you throw her in the air? Or, do you remember the shyness of your little boy who just wanted to be held by you?
I always tell my clients that even though I want you to love the way the photographs look, I also want you to be able to feel them when you look at them. I love to play games and have activities that families can get involved with, so you feel like I’m not even there. You don’t need to be looking at my camera. You need to be playing with your child and doing the things that they love to do. These are the moments that I want to be able to share with you so you’ll remember them at this season of life.
I’ll work on getting all the combinations.
I generally try to make sure I get all the combinations of your family during your family shoot. This means that you’ll see each child individually, siblings, family photos, and parents with each kiddo as well. While it’s not always possible (toddlers have their own agenda), I do my best to make sure that I accurately portray the dynamics of your family.
I love candid images.
Candid images are when you really get to see a family and how they interact. You can get to see which child loves to be held by a certain person or the relationship between siblings. You get to see their personalities and see what’s special about each one. While I will get a few that are more “formal” with everyone looking at the camera, I’d say I really focus on the interactions, the closeness of your family, and the really love that connects you together. No one likes to give that cheese smile on command and my lifestyle approach will give that more natural play and candid approach
I love to play and I’ll follow the children’s Lead
While I love to play games with your children, I will follow your children’s lead especially if you have toddlers. Toddlers have a mind of their own with strong opinions. And honestly it’s easier and less stressful to use this to our advantage. Does your child like looking at nature? Do they like running? Do they like dancing with you or be picked up on shoulder? We’ll do whatever feels right for them. If they are older and just love playing games, we’ll do that too. I’ve got an entire arsenal of ideas ready to be played. You don’t need to be worried that your kids won’t cooperate. In even my most challenging situations (crying babies, chaotic toddlers), I’ve always come away with an array of images that clients have enjoyed.
